Review: Tarte Amazonian Clay Air Brush Foundation

I have been considering picking up this foundation for a while, I had seen it at the Tarte
display in Sephora and then...well I saw Estee' aka Essie Button talk about it and well...the #EssieButtonEffect took over. I believe I've spoken about this anomaly in another blog post and it has happened yet again. So after a couple of months here we are: with The Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation added to my makeup collection!
To start off this packaging is quite smart;  it's mesh screen put in place to keep
the clay foundation from getting everywhere. You simply press the brush down on the mesh and you get the perfect amount of product. The lid has a little stopper as well so if foundation takes a little toss about your makeup bag it doesn't fill up the bowl. This is a vegan product that, like all Tarte products, is cruelty free.
There is also a specialy made "Airbuki" brush that has short bristles that buff
foundation into the skin for an airbrushed effect. The fact that the brush hairs are shorter it seems to waste no product. The bamboo handle with a golden end adds a nice touch with tarte pressed into the metal. This brush is also so soft and I would recommend it for any powder foundation.
So, my over all thoughts are these: This is truly a full coverage foundation which
I have yet to really see in a powder/mineral foundation. I think this foundation would be good for anyone with normal to combination skin. The lasting power is very good, though I wouldn't say it does the full 12 hours it claims to. It doesn't settle into fine lines until around the 8 hour mark and can be fixed with a quick re-buff with the airbuki brush. The foundation is buildable and covers redness well. I love the foundation for summer; when it hits that 110F degrees I don't usually want a liquid foundation, I want the lightest amount of makeup as I can get and Tarte has made the perfect summer foundation for me.
This foundation looks like skin and though it is a powder it had a satin like finish
that looks healthy and soft, not cakey. This foundation also says that it will help with the over-all healthy of your skin which sounds great to me! Here's a quote from Tarte.com "Amazonian clay: nature’s most perfect ingredient for better, longer, truer wear. Tourmaline: natural gemstone known to energize skin for a brighter, more radiant complexion. Pearl powder: rich in anti-inflammatory, invigorating & anti-bacterial properties. Camellia leaf extract: natural antioxidant that fights free radicals and aids in skin repair. Mineral pigments: soothe and soften skin"
I can say that mineral foundation does in fact reduce the redness that my half Welsh heritage has given the lower half of my face and cheeks. This formulation gives the skin a gorgeous glow that catches the light in the most natural way.
I have also found that a few sprays of setting spray locks it in for even longer wear.
You don't need to prime the skin, because the foundation minimizes pores and wears best on its own. Another plus is that I used the Tarte Cheek Stain in True Love on my cheeks and the Benefit Highlighter Watts Up! and it didn't disturb the foundation at all.
Over all I give this foundation a 8 out of 10, which puts it in my top foundations.

What are your favorite summer foundations or tinted moisturizers? Let me know in the comments.
I hope you've enjoyed this post and if you did please subscibe, like and comment!
