Review: Urban Decay Perversion & Subversion

I had this mascara in monthly favorites for July, so you know I already like it, but I thought
a full review and demo was in order. This combo is a limited edition pairing, but they will be available to buy individually to use together. Sneaky, sneaky, Urban Decay, get me hooked and on the two and then sell them individually. Good marketing!!This product was inspired by an employee of Urban Decay who was using Perversion 24/7 Glide-On Pencil and said she wished she could put it on her lashes because it was so black. Light bulb and a new product was born!

This is part of the new launch of the Perversion products including a cream liner, and matte liner, a felt tip liner, an All Nighter liner and an angled brush, all sporting the name Perversion. Could this be the grand follow up to the Naked range? I'm not so sure it will do quite that wildly successful for Urban Decay, but I think it hit the shelves at a great time. UD has always been known for their beauty with an edge, with cheeky product names and bold colors. Since L'Oreal acquired UD it has gotten an upgrade of sorts. Packaging is still a bit more edgy than other brands, but it looks more grown up and luxurious and when Naked launched the only truly rock and roll thing about it was its suggestive name and the looks you could create from it. But with the launch of all the Perversion products I see UD tipping their hat to their old ways. The box makes it sound like it contains the contents of 50 Shades of Grey not mascara and you can tell they had fun writing it.
You can get all these products at UrbanDecay.com

Subversion Primer:
The brush for Subversion is smaller with shorter bristles and the white formula was created not only to lengthen and thicken as a primer, but also to condition with vitamin E and panthenol (a provitamin of B5 that is used in cosmetics as a humectant and a moisturizing emollient) to protect lashes from getting damaged by mascara that cold be drying. This is the first lash primer I have ever liked.

Perversion Mascara:
The brush is big with bristles, not a plastic/rubberized applicator and coats the lashes with ease. The formulas is black, black, black and does not flake through out the day and it does lengthen and thicken lashes. It's not the most volumizing mascara I've ever used, but it does get the job done. There is no making this mascara look natural, this is for a bold look for sure. Lashes stay somewhat flexible and it holds a curl fairly well. It is not water proof, so no crying, but if moisture is not a problem this baby lasts.
The formula does really well and doesn't dry too quickly that it clumps. I don't like doing more than 2 coats because at that point it looks a little spider-leg-y; not cute. Over all if you want super black, long, full lashes, you may want to give this a try.

I hope you have found this helpful in your quest for the best lashes ever and that you enjoyed
reading it. What's your favorite mascara and have/do you want to try Perversion? Let me know in the comments. If you want to see more post from me be sure to follow my blog either on here or on Bloglovin'. I'm also on TwitterInstagram and Tumblr.
