Just Save January - Nivea for Men Post Shave Balm as a PRIMER

If you watch Nikkie Tutorials you've already heard about the Nivea for Men Post Shave Balm
in Sensitive being used as a foundation primer. Well, it sounded crazy, but I trust that this girl knows how to do a face of makeup. I picked it up and tried it. Actually, I've been trying it for a few weeks. I wanted to have a really well rounded review of this slightly odd makeup choice. The thing is...it works, amazingly, actually.

I use a dime sized amount of this and rub it all over my face until it gets tacky, as recommended by Nikkie. Then I start applying my foundation. I wasn't sure if this would work at first, but the sensitive formula has no alcohol and a whole lot of glycerin. You see, glycerin is a humectant. Humectants act as a way reduce the loss of moisture by drawing it in and holding it there. So If you put foundation on top of glycerin then it will stick. The balm also has chamomile, vitamin E, and B5 to help soothe the skin.

So I tried it. I was blown away with how well it works. I would have it under my makeup for an 8.5 hour shift and it looked way better than it did with other primers. I once had my makeup on 14 hours and it was still in place. Now, don't get me wrong, it didn't look perfect, but it looked a whole lot better than other days. I've tested this with 4 different foundation to see if it was dependant on that and it wasn't. Every foundation was made better with this after shave being used as a primer.

Over all:
This after shave out performs my most expensive primers in extending the life span and improving the over all look of my makeup. The best part about that is it cost less than $10.00. I am obsessed and am so thankful. It does smell like a men's after shave, though the scent doesn't linger long. I like that kind of smell, so I don't mind. The consistancy is a gel-like feel that is nice and feels quite cooling. I have mixed the Becca - Backlight Primer in with it for a glowy look and that worked well, as that is also glycerin based. I can say nothing but good things.

I hope you liked this review and the kick off to Just Save January. After the holidays my wallet
needs a break, so I thought I'd do a drugstore/how to slow down your spending month. The only products I will be featuring will be affordable purchases or things I already own. Here's to a month of saving!
