July 2016 - Lipsticks of the Month

You know how there are always those few lipsticks that end up in your bag, sometimes
even the one that never gets taken out? Well, I recently cleared out my purse and was rather surprised by the contents. I don’t always do favorites because sometimes they feel forced for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love other peoples monthly favorites, I just have a hard time writing them. This is kinda of an accidental monthly lipstick favorites and I hope you enjoy…
1) YSL - Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-in-Stick in 41 Corail A Porter
This shade has become just what I had purchased it for; an easy-to-wear, no fuss, pop of sheer color. I can literally be walking down the street and put a bit on, no mirror needed. It also is that perfect formula to put on after you can’t deal with a full on lip, but still want that polished look.

When I had my friend pick this up for me at DragCon she was shocked that I asked for a nude. “Who are you?” was the general follow up to my request. It was out of character. Since getting it I wear is all the time. At least once a week, which is often for me to wear the same shade. It’s become my I-don’t-know-what-to-wear-with-this-look lipstick.

3) Urban Decay - Vice Lipstick in F-Bomb Cream Finish
I think this is my perfect red. I love all reds but if it came down to picking just one shade, this, this would be it. It’s just stunning. The finish is so comfortable and the formula is my favorite. It wears like a dream. It’s as in your face as the name would suggest.

4) Marc Jacobs Beauty - Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer in 310 Taboo
I’ve said it before, Marc Jacobs Beauty does a gloss right. Non of this new high pigment business, nope, just a wet, sexy gloss. I am a child of the early ‘90s and that is what I am here for when I’m talkin’ gloss. A bit of shimmer and a lot of shine with a non-drying formula 10/10 in my book.

This is one of those shades that you put on and feel like an instant bad-ass. If you have it I think you’ll feel me. It is effortless to wear and still has a certain boldness to it. It is the least drying matte formula and just bumps up any look from natural to smokey.

This shade is the lightest nude that seems to work on my skin tone. It looks a-maz-ing with a darker eye makeup and still works with a fresh face. The formula is lovely and the bit of shimmer in it looks glowy and luminous on the lips without that chunky thing other glittery lip products can cause. I love pulling out this bullet as well, pure luxury.

The reason this stash surprised me a bit is there are quite a few neutral shades. I was a full on lip girl all the time a couple years ago. Reds, dark berries, and hot fuchsias were my go to shades. Now, I’m still a hardcore bolds girl, but I barely owned neutral shades a couple years back. I seem to be having a love affair with some neutral tones and I don’t hate it.

What is your favorite neutral/nude shade so I can expand my love and my collection?
I know you guys always have the best suggestions and taste in makeup. Tell me in the comments!

xoxo, Amanda
